Promoting innovative Polish products and technologies at The 56th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2007”.

The winners of the Polish of the Future Award, which is granted annually by the , were rewarded with 3 gold and 2 brown medals and one special distinction award at the 56th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2007” which took place in the end of November 2007. The laureates’ solutions were promoted at the exhibition by the .
The 56th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2007” took place on 22nd to 25th November 2007 in the premises of the Heysel Expo in Brussels. Not unlike the previous years, this year the exhibition brought together innovative solutions from all around the world, including Spain, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malaysia, Iran and Hong Kong. Numerous representatives of Poland also attended the event. Polish scientific and research units, private entrepreneurs, universities and individual inventors displayed their solutions for various industries and fields of science. The presented 5 solutions developed by the winners of the Polish of the Future Competition.
The exhibition was organized as a part of the “INNOVATION SUMMIT” event, which included the energy innovations exhibition called “ENERGY” and the “Brussels INNOVA” exhibition, devoted to the transfer of technologies and implementation of technological developments. The exhibitions were accompanied by the “EUREKA” international innovation contest, during which each of the presented solutions (prototypes, solutions already implemented or waiting to be implemented) was assessed by experts from the international jury.
Inventions presented by the Polish exhibitors were appreciated and high-rated by both experts from the contest jury and exhibitors from other countries. The medals and awards granted to them verify this recognition. The solutions developed by the winners of the Polish of the Future Competition, promoted by the , were also awarded at the exhibition:
Special Award from Russian Federal Agency for Industry was granted to:
• Institute of Welding from Gliwice, with project “Measuring system LogWeld/QWeld for quality inspection of resistance welded joints”.
The International Jury awards:
Gold medal with mention of the Brussels EUREKA 2007 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•   Zakład Aparatury Pomiarowej KWANT Sp. z o.o. from Cracow, with project „System for control of the PF combusation process in power generation boilers”,
•   Motor Transport Institute from Warsaw and Polish Foundry Research Institute from Cracow, with project “Ultralight ALFA aluminium brake discs bound with fly ah of high operational use parameters”,
•    Institute of Welding from Gliwice, with project “Measuring system LogWeld/QWeld for quality inspection of resistance welded joints”.
The brown medal of the Brussels EUREKA 2007 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•    National Institute of Telecommunications from Warsaw, with project “TBA150-IŁ converter - portable unit for automatic testing of telecom batteries condition”,
•    TWERD Power Electronics from Toruń, with project “ MFC710. Vector controlled frequency converters”.
It is worth noting that the special distinction awards were granted also by the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland. The awards on behalf of the Minister of Economy were officially granted by Mr. Jacek Piłatkowski, First Counselor of the Economic and Commercial section of the Embassy of Poland in Brussels, to the outstanding Polish inventions displayed at the exhibition. The list of the awarded solutions includes the following:
- Ultra-fast synchronous vacuum SVB circuit breaker for the railway industry, designed by Associate Professor, Ph.D., Eng. Marek Bartosik, MSc Eng. Janusz Borsiak, PhD. Eng. Ryszard Lasota, MSc Eng. Piotr Polak, MSc Eng. Andrzej Szubko, PhD. Eng. Franciszek Wójcik of the Department of Electronic Apparatuses of the Lodz University of Technology and ZAE WOLTAN Sp. z o.o. in Lodz. 
- TRRIO, the rotating flood defense sandbag filler – PLEXFORM - Lech Michalczewski. 
The exhibition was accompanied by industry workshops and conferences, as well as the ceremony during which the most distinguished inventors and institutions were honored with the Belgian Cross of the of , established in Belgium in 1954. In 2007, the Superior Distinction Committee of the Kingdom of Belgium honored, among others, Mr. Janusz Mikuła – Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Jacek Piłatkowski - First Counselor of the Economic and Commercial section of the Embassy of Poland in Brussels, PhD. Marek Bartosik of the Department of Electronic Apparatuses of the Lodz University of Technology, PhD. Stefan Góralczyk of the Institute of Mechanized Construction and Rock Mining. The winners were decorated with the Cross by the Mayor of Brussels.
The exposition of the PAED had been organized in with the Economic and Commercial section of the Embassy of Poland in Brussels. The stall displayed inventions made by various scientists; the showpieces included frequency converters, brake discs, a converter for loading and unloading of batteries. Furthermore, special boards regarding each of those solutions were available for interested readers. Also available were: leaflets, brochures, films and presentations. The operators of the Polish exposition had also prepared a collective of all Polish projects presented at the exhibition, available in two language versions: English and French.
Moreover, our stand included publications by the Polish Agency of Foreign and Investments regarding investment opportunities in Poland, key sectors of Polish economy and economic conditions, as well as UNIDO books and CDs, and brochures of the Polish Tourism describing the tourist attractions of Poland.
The products and technologies promoted by the Polish representatives were also displayed to the guest visitors to the exhibition: Mr. Janusz Mikuła – Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Regional Development, Mr. Jacek Piłatkowski - First Counselor of the Economic and Commercial section of the Embassy of Poland in Brussels, Mr. Marek Rózanski – Department Secretary in the PHiI, Mr. David Crous Duran of the European Commission and numerous representatives of companies, institutions and scientific centers worldwide.
The Polish section at the exhibition was organized by the of International Co-operation, and Advertising EUROBUSINESS – Haller and the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers.
We hope both the participation in the exhibition and the awards granted to strengthen the prominence of innovative Polish companies and institutions, influence the increase in the in the awarded solutions among potential customers and contribute to the increase in their competitiveness in the domestic and international markets.

Promoting innovative Polish products and technologies at The 55th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2006”.
The 55th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2006” took place on 22nd to 27th November 2006 in Brussels. The exhibition was organized as a part of the “INNOVATION SUMMIT” event which, apart from the “Brussels EUREKA” exhibition, also included the energy innovations exhibition called “ENERGE” and the “Brussels INNOVA” exhibition, devoted to the transfer of technologies and implementation of technological developments. 
The participation from the in the event was intended to promote innovative Polish products and technologies, created by the winners of the Polish of the Future Competition. Their solutions were presented at the PAED stand.
Each of the solutions (prototypes, solutions already implemented or waiting to be implemented) representing various branches of industry was assessed by experts from the International Belgian Jury. Inventions presented by the were appreciated and high-rated by both experts from the contest jury and exhibitors from other countries. The medals and awards granted to them verify this recognition:
Special Award from the Minister of Chinese Railway Department was granted for:
•    KOMAG Mining Mechanization Centre from Gliwice, with project “SKZ – 81 haulage system with a dual driving system”.
Special Distinction Award from the PRO-TECH from Austria was granted for:
•    Smarttech Sp. z o.o. from Łomianki/ Warsaw, with project „Integrated 3D measurement system ScanBright™”. 
The International Belgian Jury awards:
The gold medal with mention of the Brussels EUREKA 2006 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•    KOMAG Mining Mechanization Centre from Gliwice, with project “SKZ – 81 haulage system with a dual driving system”.
The gold medal of the Brussels EUREKA 2006 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•    Smarttech Sp. z o.o. from Łomianki/ Warsaw, with project „Integrated 3D measurement system ScanBright™”. 
The silver medals of the Brussels EUREKA 2006 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies were granted to:
•    Transition Technologies S.A. from Warsaw, with project „Digital Platform for Optimisation of Electricity Generation – SILO Module”,
•    Chemtech-Prosyntech Inżynieria i Chemiczna from Sławków, with Project „Multi-directional recykling of solid leather wastes – including chrome-tanned offals, combined with recykling of sewage sludges – including chromium-containing  sludges”. 
The brown medal of the Brussels EUREKA 2006 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•    CryoFlex Poland Sp. z o.o. from Blizne Łaszczyńskiego, with project „Medical devices to the cryotherapy and the cryosurgery”.  
The Superior Distinction Committee of the Kingdom of Belgium honored, among others, the for their activities for the development and promotion of . The Officer’s Cross of the of distinction was accepted, on behalf of the President of the PAED Ms. Danuta Jabłońska, by Ms. Irma Pęciak, the Director of the PAED Innovation and Technology Unit.
The granted a special distinction award for an outstanding technological and innovation of one presented at the exhibition. The cup and diploma was granted to the named ”The Portable complex of devices KARAT with emergency power supply and autonomous vacuum for various surgical operations”, created by the Cardiological Center and Scientific Production VZLJOT from Moscow. 
On the second day of the exhibition the Polish stand became the venue for a meeting organized by the Economic and Commercial section of the Embassy of Poland in Brussels and the Belgian-Luxembourg-Polish Commercial Chamber “Bepolux”. At the meeting, Mr. Ivo Byczewski, Ambassador, and Mr. Krzysztof Gulda, Director of the Economy Development Department in the Ministry of Economy conducted an official award-granting ceremony. Awards of the Minister of Economy were granted to two exceptional Polish inventions presented at the exhibition. Furthermore, Mr. Gulda presented the activities of the PAED for the of innovative enterprises and scientific and research units. He encouraged all participants of the meeting to take part in the Polish of the Future Award contest. This year saw the 10th of the contest, organized under honorary auspices of the Prime Minister. The meeting was accompanied by a screening of a related to the contest and its laureates, titled “Key to the future”.
The exhibition was also accompanied by seminars devoted to various subjects, e.g. of industrial design, in new design and obtaining patents for the outcomes of work. Methods of effective searching for technical and technological partners across Europe were discussed, as well as possibilities of obtaining public support for innovations and patents. A special set of seminars was devoted to energy management and effective use of energy. Moreover, start-up workshops for young entrepreneurs were held and a presentation of the 7th Framework Programme (discussing mainly those activities, which are targeted at the small and medium businesses sector) was displayed.
The Polish section at the exhibition was organized by the of the Commercial Counselor of the Polish Embassy, the of International Co-operation, and Advertising EUROBUSINESS – Haller and the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers.

2005 

Promoting innovative Polish products and technologies at The 54th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2005”.
This year, the 54th World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies “Brussels EUREKA 2005”, which took place on 16th to 20th November 2005 in Brussels, was attended by representatives from the . Their participation in the event was intended to promote innovative Polish products and technologies, created by the winners of the 2003 and 2004 editions of the Polish of the Future Competition. As the organizer of the competition, the PAED presented 11 inventions.
Those solutions were rendered available to the guests of the exhibition as compelling showpieces and boards. Films, slideshows and photographs were displayed; leaflets, brochures, CDs and catalogues describing the promoted innovations were distributed. Furthermore, each of the technologies, products or prototypes was assessed by the experts from the Belgian and International Juries.
Our participation in the exhibition turned out to have been extremely beneficial. The solutions presented by the were evaluated very positively and achieved numerous awards, including the following:
Special distinction awards (one award per industry) were granted to:
•    Warsaw University, institute of Microbiology, Department of Bacterial Genetics from Warsaw, with project “Bivalent Chicken Vaccine anti- Campylobacter/Salmonella” – Special Award from Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Belgian Minister of Finances;
•    VIGO System S.A. from Warsaw, with project “PCI-2TE-13 photodetector a unique for FTIR applications” – Special Award from Bosnia-Herzegovina;
•    Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements from Warsaw, with project “ - antiterrorist assisting and neutralizing robot” – Special Award from Russian Ministry of the Emergency Situations.
The gold medals with mention of the Brussels EUREKA 2005 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies were granted to:
•    Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry from Warsaw and ROKITA-AGRO S.A. from Brzeg Dolny, with project ““The ecological technology of production of  high quality 2,4-D herbicide”,
•    VIGO System S.A. from Warsaw, with project “PCI-2TE-13 photodetector a unique for FTIR applications”,
•    Warsaw University, institute of Microbiology, Department of Bacterial Genetics from Warsaw, with project “Bivalent Chicken Vaccine anti- Campylobacter/Salmonella”.
The gold medal of the Brussels EUREKA 2005 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•    MARBET-WIL Sp. z o.o. from Bielsko-Biała, with project „MARWIL-REFBET Technology of protective coat to concrete and reinforced concrete surfaces”,
•    Med & Life Sp. z o.o. from Warsaw, with project “Viofor JPS System Light – innovative medical device for treatment of the large surfaces of the body, with non-laser light and magnetic field”,
•    Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements from Warsaw, with project “ - antiterrorist assisting and neutralizing robot”.
The silver medals of the Brussels EUREKA 2005 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies were granted to:
•    KOMAG Mining Mechanization Centre from Gliwice, with project “LDCU-630 labirynth dust collector for respirabile fraction contained in gases of higher temperature”,
•    Institute of Heavy Organic Synthesis “Blachownia” from Kędzierzyn-Koźle, with project “Kotamina Plus - anti-corrosion and anti-fouling for water-steam systems in power engineering”,
•    Institute for Plastic Processing “METALCHEM” from Toruń, with project “The method of manufacturing thermoplastic guiding road posts”,
•    Road and Bridge Research Institute from Warsaw, with project “Modified bituminous mixture ‘GUFI’ for construction of anticracking and sound insulation layers in pavements”.
The brown medal of the Brussels EUREKA 2005 World Exhibition on Innovation, Research and New Technologies was granted to:
•    HYDROMEGA Sp. z o.o. from Gdynia, with project „The technology of the pulsation method of swilling oil pipelines”.
The Agency’s participation in the exhibition and the inventions which it presented attracted the attention of the media as well. A representative of the Agency was interviewed by, among others, the Polish RMF FM radio.
Moreover, numerous prominent guests visited the PAED stand, including Minister Marek Bartosik – Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education and Science, Mr. Jan Krzysztof Frackowiak – Delegate from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Director of the Polish Science Academy in Brussels, Mr. Guy Van der Beken – President of the Belgian Jury, representatives from the Economic and Commercial section of the Embassy of Poland in Brussels, as well as members of many other institutions, ministries and scientific centers worldwide.
A total of approximately 430 technologies, products and prototypes, implemented or waiting for implementation, representing various branches of industry and coming from 23 countries was presented during the exhibition. Representatives of Poland were numerous – 60 Polish inventions were shown. The Polish stand at the exhibition was organized by the of International Co-operation, and Advertising EUROBUSINESS – Haller and the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers.
We hope that the awards will help the representatives of the scientific and research communities, as well as entrepreneurs, establish beneficial cooperation with those who will allow for the implementation of their highly innovative solutions to the industry.
We encourage all interested parties to cooperate with the PAED, in particular to take part in the “Polish of the Future Award” competition.
