INTEGRATED 3D MEASUREMENT SYSTEM ScanBrightTM
The integrated 3D measurement system ScanBright has been a response to market demand for precise and cost-effective device used for creating digital 3D representation of real object. The system is based on the innovative structure light measurement method. This is a full-field, non-contact optical method in which white light fringes are projected on the measured object. Coordinates of measured surface are calculated on the base of images of the fringes deformed on the object. The method is characterized by quick measurement (10 sec) with high sampling rate (100pt/mm2) and possibility of adjusting the measurement volume to clients needs (<1,5mx1,3mx0,5m). As a result measurement cloud of points is obtained, where X,Y,Z are the object coordinates and R,G,B its color components.
ScanBright consists of 3DScanner and work station with specialized software Mesh3D. Mesh3D enables the user to control the system as well as to carry out further processing such as: advanced operations on clouds of points (filtering, merging, simplification), creating and edition of triangle meshes. The results can be exported to CAx systems or computer graphics programs (IGES, VRML+ texture, STL, OBJ, DXF, TXT).
The system was designed in such a way that it provides failure free operation both in laboratories and in the field. 3DScanner is equipped with the special vibrations damping mechanisms and with a backup power system that protects it from detrimental voltage drop. The system has a very comfortable handle and a professional stand which facilitate the work of the device in field conditions at the height range of 0,5-1,7m.
ScanBright system is used in a wide scope of fields such as computer aided design and manufacturing, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering (production quality assessment), multimedia and cultural heritage archiving and medical systems. Thanks to features like user-friendly operation, mobility, highly accurate, reliable measurements and high quality texture reproduction it has won recognition among engineers and artists.
The ScanBright system is the first 3D measurement system which fully integrates accurate non-contact digitalization of complex 3D objects and processing of coordinate and texture data. The method, unlike tactile methods, allows measurement of delicate objects, such as human faces or valuable museum exhibit items, while the software comfortably prepare the data for multiple applications. Due to its unique structural solutions the ScanBright system is recognized as one of the few mobile optical 3D measurement systems delivering data with high accuracy.
